Beetlemania

Beetlemania was an entry into the Colorado Spaces competition sponsored by the Governor’s Residence at the Boettcher Mansion in 2012. The theme was to create your vision of a Colorado Space. Creativity, whimsy, innovation and a sense of humor were encouraged. Christie Schneider and her husband, Joe, came up with the design concept and graphics.
Our Rocky Mountain deck represents a cycle of rejuvenation: a green carpet of pine seedlings are the embryonic new forest; a mature character pine represents the restored forest; and the deck, screen and furniture are built from beetle kill wood. This contemplative space embodies the State’s qualities of hope, resourcefulness and endurance.
